Deirdre Farrugia is a Personal Trainer, Olympic Athlete, mother and better half of Nathan. She is responsible for the physical wellbeing of our UP clients and forms an integral part of Team UP that provides a multi-dimentional approach to creating ultimate performers.

Deirdre started her sporting career at the tender age of 11 and was soon representing our country internationally, and at the age of 15 in the seniors category, no less! For a span of over 15 years she remained on the top of her game and national champion in the sprint athletic distances of 60m, 100m, 200m and both 4 x 100 and 4 x 400m relays. Apart from the pinnacle of her career, the Olympic Games, she competed for Malta in 4 World Athletic Championship events, and 8 Small Nations Games, garnering 12 medals in total.

After retiring from competition in 2003, Deirdre embarked on professional coaching training as well as health and fitness studies at the University of Malta and MCAST, using all her years of experience as a disciplined athlete to change her role from being coached, to coaching.

Deirdre runs a successful Personal Training business that works one-on-one with individuals, helping them develop their fitness, flexibility and disciplined mindset…….. She also organises motivating group sessions for fun and fitness in the open air, using some of natures most beautiful venues as her playground. She keeps herself in shape by running regularly, having moved to longer distance, and has even run her first full marathon (though she admits it was way too long!).
